From Zero to Hero – No Emissions!
Gas in a truck?
Our gas-powered Volvo FH LNG trucks are optimised for long-haul transport. The drivetrain is based on Volvo’s diesel engine technology.
Instead of pure diesel, the trucks run on BioLNG with a small amount of diesel or HVO to ignite the gas. This significantly improves the CO2 footprint and lowers fuel costs.
HVO?
HVO stands for “Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil”.
As well as vegetable oils, this type of diesel uses waste and oils and fats from residues, such as used cooking oil, in production.
- Made 100 % from renewable raw materials
- Up to 90 % lower GHG emissions compared with fossil diesel*
- Suitable for all diesel engines, no modifications needed
By using Neste MY Renewable Diesel, which is made 100 % from renewable raw materials, greenhouse gas emissions (GHG or CO2e) over the fuel’s life cycle are cut by up to 90 % compared with fossil diesel.
BioLNG?
- 30 %fewer emissions than a comparable Euro 6 truck
- 52 tCO2/CH4/N2O saved, July to September 2023
Bio-LNG is a particularly low-emission and climate-friendly fuel with a high energy density. Bio-LNG is made from biogas, which is cleaned and processed to natural gas quality into so-called biomethane.
This means a Bio-LNG vehicle produces 30% fewer emissions than a comparable Euro 6 truck.
Bio-LNG is a relatively inexpensive option for cutting greenhouse gas emissions in transport. If it becomes established, it has the potential to save up to 7 million tonnes of CO2 (around 10% of the GHG avoidance required) additionally by 2030.
Around 52 tonnes of CO2/CH4/N2O saved.
